I am so happy that I live in the 21st century during the internet age. How did people do this international love affair thing before computers, web cams, and internet calling services like Skype? With less than two days to go before Benji begins the first leg of his trip to the other side of the world, there are a lot of little electronic gods and goddesses that I am giving thanks to right now. Not that I don't believe in the importance of real-time letter writing, especially when conducting an international relationship (love affair or otherwise). I sincerely hope that real letters and postcards never go out of style. Letters are like a sunny Sunday morning; familiar, always welcome, and a little bit extra special.
But with the dawn of the international era and the downloading of Skype onto both my computer and Benji's, we will be able to communicate via webcam/internet phone for FREE. And guess what? YOU CAN TOO! Just go to http://www.skype.com/helloagain.html Seriously, go get it, right now. Don't wait. All you need is a $10 headset and you will be ready to talk internationally for as long and as often as you want. And no, I am NOT being paid to write this little advert by Skype.com. Who even reads this blog, anyways???
Smooches,
Kate

Hi, Kate and Benji. Uh, I'm a first time caller... I mean, poster on the blog. I just wanted to let the two of you know that the blog is being read, by many of us, but we're not yet used to posting. So we're a little shy. You think Skype is cool? It is, but this whole tech thing takes longer for some of us old folks than it does you. At any rate, Benji, Kate was a trooper when you left. Diego, on the other hand, keeps looking for someone to toss him a ball. Travel safely.
