Cross-posted at the wedding site.
I never fantasized about getting married before I met Benji, but when we decided in December that we wanted to have a casual wedding and exchange vows, I started daydreaming about in-season organic entrees, locally raised flowers, recycled wedding bands, and carbon credits to counter our wedding’s environmental footprint. Benji and I share a commitment to the environment and to our community (at the local, national and global level), and we want our wedding to reflect these values.
Integrating eco-friendly products and processes into our wedding planning proved to be surprisingly simple. Generous gifts of broken and unwanted gold jewelry for the recycled rings came from far and wide. My mother’s wedding dress was exactly what I wanted to wear. We found like-minded caterers, florists and invitation designers who will use organic, local and recycled products almost exclusively. Family and friends are contributing skills, creativity and equipment: Big Ben is making a trellis, my sister is making our rings and growing some of the flowers, my friend Jessica is baking our wedding cake, a variety of friends are in charge of music.
Family and friends are also promising to carpool or to ride our wedding bus to the Cape (check the blog and this site for updates!). We found a wedding registry that allowed us to register for contributions to Carbonfund.org as well as for traditional wedding gifts. Gifts to carbonfund.org will help us offset the inevitable environmental effects of wedding travel and celebration. It supports climate-friendly projects that directly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by retiring carbon offsets and purchasing green power, ensuring that carbon is reduced and environmental protection is gained. It is one of the few carbon reduction companies approved by Consumer Reports and the one my incredibly thoughtful fiancĂ© chose when he gave me my Valentine’s present: carbon credits to offset our travel to and from New Zealand!
In these and a myriad of other ways, our amazing community is helping us make our wedding beautiful, meaningful and environmentally friendly. Not only do I get to marry the man of my dreams, I also get the wedding of my dreams! I can’t wait to see you all there!

The site gets more awesome every day. The pictures (from both of you) are awesome (though I must admit I'm more intrigued by those from half way around the world than those of Canterbury).
I was glad to finally figure out where the older posts are, but what happened to the time line?
