A Goat for Every Girl

While Benji scopes out the sweet pubs and cafes, wanders the winding streets, and scavenges for bagels in an effort to dodge lonliness in Auckland, I have taken up the ancient art of goat herding to pass the days. In the absence of a lover, ancient Greeks would often entrust the care of the goat herds to the young women of the village as a distraction. The important job of protecting the herd, especially during the kidding season, kept the desperate maidens from throwing themselves into the sea in an attempt to be reunited with their absent loves.

Thankfully, February, the month that they had to shorten to 28 days because everyone hates it so much, is the beginning of kidding season in New Hampshire, and Jessica invited me to help out with the new goats at the farm where she works. So I have not thrown myself into the sea, but only because I have to protect the herd.

You can see me playing with the kids in the video...

I don't know, Kate. Troubling imagery: young kids ... old goats ... what's next, Benji as satyr?

Do you have a video of you, Dado, Jess and Erik having asthma attacks, dehydration headaches and hunger pains on your jaunt through the woods today?
